I program each week's shows months in advance making minor changes as I go. The idea is to select songs that are engaging, but weren't overplayed during their time. I also look for balance, some hard, some soft, some big names, some 1-hit wonders, 80's, 90's male, female etc. While presenting a show featuring 'deep tracks', one of the inherent dangers is to go too deep, too often. You can play a wholly unfamiliar song occasionally, but if the listener feels they can't relate, they will find something more interesting. I send these to you each week Mr/Ms Program Director in the hope that you too will find one or two that are interesting' enough to add to your rotation ...
A new concept for radio; a roughly 6-minute featurette that airs once a day, five days a week. Besides digging up songs that didn't get burnt out, there's also an interesting story behind each track ! The tune-out factor is next to zero.
Here's what aired last week and a link to a recent B-Side show:
Monday: Big Me - Foo Fighters
Tuesday: God Tonight - Real Life
Wednesday: Time Bomb - Rancid
Thursday On a Rope - Rocket From The Crypt
Friday: Stay - Oingo Boingo
