Those who try to be everything to everyone will ultimately become nothing to no one. You have to stand for something. That doesn't mean you can't do what you do well, but the listener won't be fooled if you water things down too much.
This is a retro-alternative show, plain & simple. 80's & 90's centric, we leak back into the 70's & cross into this century every so often. Each song is at least 10 years old and did I mention that every one of these retro songs comes with its own really fascinating story ??
Welcome to B-Side Trax:
A new concept for radio: a 6-minute featurette that airs once a day, five days a week. Besides digging up songs unburnt, there's also a fascinating, 30-second story behind each track. Because it plays to the 'Short Attention-Span Theater' we all have nowadays, the tune-out factor is next to zero !!
Here's what aired last week on B-Side Alternative and a link to a recent show:
Monday: 52 Girls - The B-52's
Tuesday: Liar - Henry Rollins Band
Wednesday: If You Could Only See - Tonic
Thursday Keep Away - Godsmack
Friday: Memphis - Joe Jackson
Many stations use this vignette as a lead-in or the centerpiece for their retro or flashback shows. Some use it as a stand-alone or even combine each week's shows to form a 30-minute weekend retro feature. That flexibility is a benefit for individual stations to use to their advantage.
Here's a week on B-Side Classic Rock, plus a show link:
Monday: The Warrior - Thin Lizzy
Tuesday: Let Me Roll It - Paul McCartney
Wednesday: Catch My Fall - Billy Idol
Thursday John Barleycorn - Traffic
Friday: Turn Up The Radio - Autograph
