This Legend Played a Live Benefit Just 2 Days After Being Shot in an Assassination Attempt … B-Side Trax !

Unbelievably, shot twice by assassins along with his wife & his manager, he would perform live at a benefit just 2 days later. His wife & manager were both critically injured, but would both make full recoveries.

When asked why he performed even though wounded, he had a typically Marley-esque response; ” If those who continue to do harm don’t sleep, how can I ?” – Robert ‘Nesta’ Marley

This Album Was The Sound of ” A Band Falling Apart” ! B-Side Trax …

Coming off of an exhaustive tour, the singer was facing musical burnout, not to mention the end of his marriage, the absence of his best friend and the loss of his mother to cancer – that’s all !  In Billy’s own words the Adore album was ” a band falling apart”.  They even tried to rent a house to live & rehearse in – no joy ! Alas, the record was made & the band lived, umm – something something ever after …

I Paid $3.95 To See One of The Greatest Bands of All Time ! B-Side Trax …

It was March 15th 1975 and they were touring their new record ‘Sheer Heart Attack’.   The venue, Miami Marine Stadium’ was a great place to watch the show and this was the song I remember most from that concert.

Little known fact:  Between this album & ‘Night at The Opera’, the band was nearly broke.  Hail to the Queen !

This Iconic Singer Tried To Take His Own Life – Unsuccessfully ! B-Side Trax …

As a teen, this veteran singer’s girlfriend took her own life.  A few months later in the midst of his depression, he tried to do the same by jumping off of a SoCal pier.  Fortunately for us, he lived to sing another day.  He even immortalized the event in a song.

This Was The Very 1st Video Ever Played on MTV – B-Side Trax …

It was August of 1981. Cable TV was just starting to boom & the carriers were starved for new content.  Enter a new concept, a network that only played music videos – the dickens you say !

Just so happens, this British band had recently finished a song that meshed perfectly.  You remember it, AND, it was the very 1st video ever aired on, well, you know …

This Beatle, Wrote a Song For His Pal Eric Clapton – B-Side Trax …

Not surprisingly, fellow guitarists Eric & George were good friends.  For whatever reason & knowing that Eric had a sweet tooth, George penned a song for his pal Eric chiding him for his love of chocolate.  He even listed a few local favorites.

The kind, yet totally tongue-in-cheek gesture, didn’t come without a warning of what effect this habit might have on his friend’s dental future.  After all, what are Buds for ??

B-Side Trax:

A new concept for radio: a 6-minute featurette that airs once a day, five days a week.  Aside from digging up songs unburnt, there’s also a fascinating, 30-second story behind each track. Because it plays to the ‘Short Attention-Span Theater’ we all have nowadays, the tune-out factor is zero !!

This is The Album That Inspired Slash To Play Guitar ! B-Side Trax …

I’m not makin’ this stuff up, Slash actually said that this was the album that made him want to learn the guitar.  And he’s not alone, James Hetfield said the same thing.  It was one of Kurt Cobain’s favorites & Rolling Stone has it at #176 on their list of ‘The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.”

Released in May of 1976, it would go 4x Platinum.  One of my favorites as well, I hope you like Aerosmith because their 4th album, well, it just “Rocks.”
