B- Side Trax Episodes – Week of NOV 21st
Back in 1980, I was living in Miami & wanted to get into radio. Even then I knew that it would be nearly impossible to get into a major market without any sort of formal training or an uncle in the biz. So I developed a plan. I moved to Ft Myers, FLA ( the 126th market at the time ) I sat at my stereo intro’ing & outro’ing songs, got a job dj’ing at a club & lo & behold, I got on the air at WINK AM/FM/TV. It was a TM automated rock format on the FM side, and get this, ‘The Music of Your Life’ live assist on the AM side. The experience was invaluable. Since then, I’ve always had broadcasting in my veins. If you’re reading this, you have the passion and probably a similar story. It takes a unique sort of person to be in this crazy industry of ours, it takes passion …
Welcome to B-Side Trax:
A great way to add some spice, AND, 23 unique songs to your station’s format without touching your playlist !
The show features songs that, while not totally obscure, were less played, refreshingly diverse and compelling in the array of songs and artists, PLUS an interesting story the listener probably never knew ! A once-a-day program, roughly 6 minutes long, the show delivers a roughly 45 second story, the song itself, and done. The tune-out factor is next to zero.
Here’s what aired last week and a link to a recent B-Side show:
Monday: Badfish – Sublime
Tuesday: Lust For Life – Iggy Pop
Wednesday: Nearly Lost You – Screaming Trees
Thursday Block Rockin’ Beats – Chemical Brothers
Friday: Smash It Up – The Offspring
Many stations use this vignette as a lead-in or the centerpiece for their retro or flashback shows. Some use it as a stand-alone or even combine each week’s shows to form a 30-minute weekend retro feature. That flexibility is a benefit for individual stations to use to their advantage.
Listeners will also be able to hear each week’s shows on podcast coming soon.
