Episodes – B-Side Trax – Week of DEC 4th: Or What About The Time Dave Matthews Caught a Ride To His Own Show From a Fan ? B-Side Trax …
It’s true. Emily & her boyfriend were just driving to a concert when they picked up a poor guy whose bike had a flat tire & had forgotten his cell phone. Turns out he was the star of the show ! Their kindness netted them front-row tickets, backstage passes and an invitation to dinner. It pays to be nice to strangers … Sometimes …
The stories are real, each one fascinating in its own right.
A fairly new concept: a 6-minute featurette that airs once a day, five days a week. Aside from digging up songs unburnt, there’s also a fascinating, 30-second story behind each track. Because it plays to the ‘Short Attention-Span Theater’ we all have nowadays, the tune-out factor is zero !!
Here’s what aired last week on B-Side Alternative and a link to a recent show:
Monday: Ants Marching – Dave Matthews Band
Tuesday: Candy – Iggy Pop
Wednesday: Bombs Below – Living Things
Thursday Sell Out – Reel Big Thing
Friday: What’s So Funny … ( ‘Bout … ) – Elvis Costello
Many stations use this vignette as a lead-in or the centerpiece for their retro or flashback shows. Some use it as a stand-alone or even combine each week’s shows to form a 30-minute weekend retro feature. That flexibility is a benefit for individual stations to use to their advantage.
Here’s a week on B-Side Classic Rock, plus a show link:
Monday: Children of The Sun – Billy Thorpe
Tuesday: Once in a lifetime – Talking Heads
Wednesday: Modern Day Cowboy – Tesla
Thursday Just Like Me – Paul Revere & The Raiders
Friday: NY Groove – Ace Frehley
