This Beatle, Wrote a Song For His Pal Eric Clapton – B-Side Trax …
Not surprisingly, fellow guitarists Eric & George were good friends. For whatever reason & knowing that Eric had a sweet tooth, George penned a song for his pal Eric chiding him for his love of chocolate. He even listed a few local favorites.
The kind, yet totally tongue-in-cheek gesture, didn’t come without a warning of what effect this habit might have on his friend’s dental future. After all, what are Buds for ??
A new concept for radio: a 6-minute featurette that airs once a day, five days a week. Aside from digging up songs unburnt, there’s also a fascinating, 30-second story behind each track. Because it plays to the ‘Short Attention-Span Theater’ we all have nowadays, the tune-out factor is zero !!
Here’s what aired last week on B-Side Alternative and a link to a recent show:
Monday: Here Comes The Hotstepper – Ini Kamoze
Tuesday: Lady Picture Show – Stone Temple Pilots
Wednesday: Laid – James
Thursday: Next To You – The Police
Friday: Suicide Blonde – INXS
Many stations use this vignette as a lead-in or the centerpiece for their retro or flashback shows. Some use it as a stand-alone or even combine each week’s shows to form a 30-minute weekend retro feature. That flexibility is a benefit for individual stations to use to their advantage.
Here’s a week on B-Side Classic Rock, plus a show link:
Savoy Truffle – The Beatles / Click To Play Show
Monday: Heads Are Gonna Roll – Judas Priest
Tuesday: All Apologies – Nirvana
Wednesday: Savoy Truffle – The Beatles
Thursday Everybody’s Talkin’ – Harry Nilsson
Friday: That Smell – Lynyrd Skynyrd
B-Well,
Mike
